[Day 1 - EE] Suitor's Mixer RP Thread

[Galen Sol]

"Oh." Her brows arch. "And so you're... following in his footsteps? The calling of a Jedi does bring us to places like this one, perhaps more often than you'd think. Less often to courting princesses, though."

"Something like that." he shrugged. "He suggested that I needed more experience with people. I couldn't argue with that. I cane here to hunt, but this seemed like a good opportunity."

[Layne Hoshin]

To Garth she shrugged. "Plenty of Jedi have gotten married. Some of them are even here. Attachments are not forbidden, just discouraged. If not managed properly, they can lead one to the Dark Side. Of course, Zeno here knows all about the Dark Side."

She turned toward him. "No, I'm not here to find love. I'm just here to make sure you're not doing anything you shouldn't be."

Garth's eyes light up slightly at Layne's words, despite his futile efforts to control his response.

"Then ah hope y' manage t' find some fun alongside fulfillin' yer duty then." Garth answers Layne as he tips his glass in her general direction.

"An' ah hope this one lives up t' yer expectations. He's proved a quite friendly and civil ind'vidual so far, t' me at least."

"I'm not the only one here that knows all about the Dark Side," he replies to Layne, with a smirk. "But it seems a waste that you're here for me. I've gotten along fine for years without a babysitter, and have caused none of the upheavals on Alderaan."

"It's still mostly the way you left it since you left, isn't it?" he asks Garth, with a smile. "I don't think I've blown it up." He checks under his feet to make sure Alderaan is still there.

"It's always the Sith that act friendly and civil that you most have to watch out for," she said toward Wayne.

She sighed, turning to Zeno, "The Dark Side is no longer how I commune with the Force. Once I truly experienced the peace the Light side can bring, I embraced it. If you want to convince us you've truly turned a new leaf, then perhaps you should prove you've done the same thing, Zeno. But so long as you are guided by the Dark Side, your intentions will forever be in doubt."

[Brannis Ulgo]

Kat was silent as she carefully considered her words, as she rarely spoke with haste or without giving her words due consideration. "It is not impossible for a skilled user of the Force to manipulate someone's thoughts and impressions... however, I don't want to throw around baseless accusations," she remarked quietly, looking in the direction of the royal family with concern.

Would they have to rescue the royal family from the clutches of evil as well?

"Just... something to keep in mind. Our enemy is a sly one, and has no honor."

"The princess did not appreciate my comment that Panteer's association with Thul is poking at a sore spot for the people. I hope I made a better impression with my remarks tonight, but... It could be tougher for me to gain the princess's attention than I had thought."

[Omandri Rist]

"Funny.. I've got something I could bring up with you later too, private venue and all," she says with a brief smirk, but focuses once more on the glass. One second, two, her eyes flit away from it with a purpose like she was running from the thought and took a long sip of the contents, and then it was longer, and longer, until it was gone and the glass was empty.

In the moment following she looks thoughtful, pensive, and her gaze seems to search around for the nearest place she can find another drink but another look at the glass and she discards the idea entirely. Setting the empty glass down on a nearby table without thought or care.

That got his attention a little Omandri raised an eyebrow at her "Oh really? Knowing you it'll be something exciting or dangerous. Maybe both." He said with a smile.

He watched the behavior with the glass closely, he was about to flag down a waiter when he got the feeling she was making a conscious effort to not continue. "My my Riss are you showing restraint? Maybe you've changed more than I thought in our time apart." He chuckled a little "the Riss that ferried me across the Outer Rim never turned down a free drink."

That got his attention a little Omandri raised an eyebrow at her "Oh really? Knowing you it'll be something exciting or dangerous. Maybe both." He said with a smile.

"Little bit of both, yea," she says, a couple nods and a smirk. Hands going toward her hips but finding a dress instead of the usual belt they slip off the sides a little awkwardly. A small flush to her cheeks from the embarrassment of it she glances away a moment, crossing her arms under her chest.

A shrug, "Just..' she shakes her head, smiles as she leans in a bit. Arms unfurling she leans forward toward him, leaning in by his side, and places one hand on his forearm for support. "Still the same girl, just a bit distracted tonight. Tell you about it later.. meet after this sometime, somewhere?"

[Zeno Thul]

"Sad t'say ah dunno, Duke. First time ah've been here, I may have the name 'f an Ulgo, but ah were raised offworld." There's a certain wistfulness in his voice as he speaks of his past.

"If y' were tryna blow it up though, y'sure ain't doin a real good job. She sure is one o' the prettiest planets ah ever did see."

"But if I had to guess, Garth's probably not interested in debates over light and dark. Let's have lunch tomorrow and debate it then. For now, since you two have actually served together we could all just catch up and talk about how life has been," he suggests. "That Daz trickster, I'm guessing you're related?"

[Katarzyna Ulgo]

"The princess did not appreciate my comment that Panteer's association with Thul is poking at a sore spot for the people. I hope I made a better impression with my remarks tonight, but... It could be tougher for me to gain the princess's attention than I had thought."

"Hmmmm... I'm uncertain if she is being presented manipulated facts, or if she truly is ignorant of what is going on. That makes me concerned about her as a possible future queen." A ruler shouldn't be ignorant.

"Brannis, do you think you can gently try to enlighten her to the truths of Alderaan? That what she knows now might not be the full picture? I ask this not because of the courtship, but because it would be important if she is one who could possibly be a ruler."

"Why?" She asked when he mentioned Daz, "...remind you of someone? I guess he does take that boldness from our ancestors. That kid already shaped the fate of the galaxy before he ever became a padawan."

"Acshally, Knight Carrack's been kind enough t' give me a li'l rundown on the subject. State of the 'verse bein' what it is, seemed a bit important. But ah understand, time and place 'n all that."

"Little bit of both, yea," she says, a couple nods and a smirk. Hands going toward her hips but finding a dress instead of the usual belt they slip off the sides a little awkwardly. A small flush to her cheeks from the embarrassment of it she glances away a moment, crossing her arms under her chest.

His smile faltered a little with worry it must be something big if Riss was this nervous about it. "Sure yeah, we can meet on my ship later tonight, I know there's a huttball game on at the bar tonight maybe after that?" He instinctively leans toward her firming his arm to support her his hand coming to her hip to help steady her.

[Zeno Thul]

"Uhuh," Layne was clearly not having any of this 'I'm not a Sith anymore' talk. Which *was* kind of funny coming from her perhaps... but then, their situations *were* rather different.

"Why?" She asked when he mentioned Daz, "...remind you of someone? I guess he does take that boldness from our ancestors. That kid already shaped the fate of the galaxy before he ever became a padawan."

"A little bit. He seems the type to do something without thinking it all the way through," he says with a chuckle. "For all our differences, we both had that in common. Rushing into things with no thought for consequences. It's really a wonder we're both alive to have this conversation."

Looking to Garth, "It's good to get to know the difference between light and dark, to be able to see the difference. But in particular, when Layne and I debate something we'll probably throw barbs at each other and half of what we say will have nothing to do with the debate. That's why she'd probably be the only one that could find a reason for me to even consider it," he says with a smirk in her direction.

"Well, thanks. You seem pretty cool yourself." She said with a smile.

"There are plenty of reasons for us all to get along. When it comes down to it, we're all on the same team. I'm not all that great with hidden agendas and subterfuge... Bein' straightforward is the way to go."

"That works out for me. Kind of in the same boat there. I haven't met many soldiers in the thick of things that don't have a bit of a practical streak."

[Riss]

His smile faltered a little with worry it must be something big if Riss was this nervous about it. "Sure yeah, we can meet on my ship later tonight, I know there's a huttball game on at the bar tonight maybe after that?" He instinctively leans toward her firming his arm to support her his hand coming to her hip to help steady her.

"I'll be there so you can walk me out," she says, a brief smile as she leans in a bit more and gives him a peck on the cheek. Leaning back she looks to him, a quick nod, easy smile. "Thanks," she says, and then steps back once letting her hand slip from his arm, "I'll see you then," she says, and then moves to depart.

[Tethys Carrack]

"Hm. I imagine that depends on what your goals are. Some beings are content and at peace alone. Still, someone who's learned to understand other people is often better at understanding themselves, even those solitary sorts."

Speaking of understanding others, depending on how Galen's attention is focused, he might notice that Tethys has consistently been keeping the cluster of royal and Thul guards just in her peripheral vision as the two converse.

"What have you learned from your experience so far?" she asks, lightly but not dismissively, seeming actually interested in the answer rather than merely making small talk. Not that she almost ever gives the impression that what she's saying is small talk.

"Hmmmm... I'm uncertain if she is being presented manipulated facts, or if she truly is ignorant of what is going on. That makes me concerned about her as a possible future queen." A ruler shouldn't be ignorant.

"Brannis, do you think you can gently try to enlighten her to the truths of Alderaan? That what she knows now might not be the full picture? I ask this not because of the courtship, but because it would be important if she is one who could possibly be a ruler."

Bran grimaces, looking at Kat unhappily. "Cousin..." He sighs. Speaking quickly to get through it, he says, "I will try, for the courtship and for the sake of Alderaan. But if... If she sees me as only a formal suitor, she'll never take me seriously in talking about something near to her heart. We will need... Maybe the Jedi? Someone not of Ulgo who can help me open her eyes. Each of us pushing her gently, no one putting her too on-guard -- that, I think, could work." The look on Brannis' face would evoke the tired determination of a military officer being given a mission he thinks impossible, but ready to go do it anyway.

He moves into the peck his smile brightening slightly. At the familiar feel of her lips, memories coming back. He gives the curve of her hip a squeeze as she moves away from him "Always." He simply replies as he watches her walk away.

That done He straightened his jacket and looked back among the crowd seeing who was open for engagement next.

As she parts away from Omandri Riss makes her way around folk as they spoke and chatted. Half a minute or so she wanders around looking for someone who looked like they could use a little company- but in the meantime she manages to spot Kat out from the group and zeroes in on her. Approaching with a bit of a smile as she overhears the 'shall I?' she swoops into the middle of the pair and smiles to both, "Hey," before stepping close to and leaning in by Kat. Bringing her cheek to hers, "Lookin' gorgeous," she mentions in the quick moment an arm on Kat's bicep to steady herself in the exchange.

"Like I said, it seems like a dance." he answered. "Some approach directly, others have proxies bring them together. But, everyone keeps moving. If you want to be noticed, you have to dance."

"I do not know them, so--" he's interrupted as...

As she parts away from Omandri Riss makes her way around folk as they spoke and chatted.
