[Day 2 - LM] Soup for the Masses (Twin Event)

[Desilijic Keyhote]

Keyhote hovers out of the kitchen bearing an absolutely titanic cauldron of bubbling....grey slime? With a grunt he goes to place it on a communal table but when its legs start to buckle he quickly changes to leaving it on the floor.

"Weary travellers, exhausted celebrants, the tired of heart and mind. Come! For I have prepared a heartwarming feast of traditional Hutt cuisine. In my language it would be called 'Bunky dunko soup', the meal Hutts eat to remind ourselves of our lost home. Today I, with Pantha as sous-chef, have prepared it for you.

I promise you have never eaten slugs like this before."

Sando reverently passes an equally gigantic ladle to Keyhote who stirs the soup once and then looks around expectantly.

Gil was there to help, there were two Rist's in attendance after all he didn't bother trying to take up the position of serving or waiting tables though he picked dishes. With this many peopel there were an awful lot of them to do, and well they needed to get done.

IT also let him stay a bit out of the way, and observe when he had a chance. Plus it was an amusing change of pace to wear an apron.

Tarlia was of course there, for her the duty of the Jedi was to serve others and that meant doing tasks others might feel beneath them. It was not the first time she had helped feed others, and definitely not the most desperate people she had ever offered aid to.

The Jedi busied herself with what ever task needed doing, moving to help out wherever there was a shortfall. It meant she spent a great deal of time bouncing from one spot to the other.

Seeing that no one in the crowd was brave enough to try the Hutt's soup, and abhoring the thought of wasted food, Jocasta cautiously approached. She wasn't in her uniform or in typical noble accoutrements, so she didn't stand out too much in the crowd, although she had been directly these people around just moments ago.

She gathered a small bowl of the soup and brought the spoon to her mouth, saying a silent prayer. The texture was... something else, but it was very well seasoned. Definitely not the worst thing she had eaten. "Very well seasoned sir, and very exotic, thank you for sharing your talents with us today." She said while discreetly trying to get piece of slug out from between her back teeth. It was as if it were holding on for dear life.

Galen was next to sample the Hutt's soup. He'd survived on many questionable foods throughout his life and was familiar with Hutt cuisine.

"Mmm... It's quite good, very fresh." Some of the children made faces and laughed as he slurped down a slug. He laughed with them.

She was still surprised to see a Hutt act so gregariously. She had heard some rumors, and had watched with her own eyes as he worked twice as hard as most of the volunteers this morning. "I don't know if it is love of food, or perhaps what they call in the classics agape, a love for your fellow man... or being, that we are experiencing here. A selfless act of love to a stranger without any expectation of return." Jocasta gave an earnest smile to the Hutt.

Galen was next to sample the Hutt's soup. He'd survived on many questionable foods throughout his life and was familiar with Hutt cuisine.

"Mmm... It's quite good, very fresh." Some of the children made faces and laughed as he slurped down a slug. He laughed with them.

Although his comment about the freshness of the dish brought some questions to her mind, Jocasta enjoyed the children's reaction.

"Mmm... It's quite good, very fresh." Some of the children made faces and laughed as he slurped down a slug. He laughed with them.

"Indeed, you know your gastropods! Pantha collected them in the early hours of the morning and then we set to spicing. I was worried some might not know the fine art of Hutt cuisine."

She was still surprised to see a Hutt act so gregariously. She had heard some rumors, and had watched with her own eyes as he worked twice as hard as most of the volunteers this morning. "I don't know if it is love of food, or perhaps what they call in the classics agape, a love for your fellow man... or being, that we are experiencing here. "Ahhhhh, what could be more beautiful? More noble? Perhaps I should have spent more time in kitchens on my great quest? You speak well. Allow me to have Pantha introduce myself."

"You are addressing Ser Keyhote, noble knight and...talented chef?"
The Hutt nods.

Certainly more than the grump which she glanced at from time to time mid working. Finding a moment she slips up next to him, giving him a gentle bump in the side with her elbow. "Out of the two of us, you look like the one nursing a hangover," she said, looking out over the place in front of her and only turning to look to him with a smirk after a few seconds.

"Don't remind me. It's too damn early," he joked as he started to the wipe table.

Garth accepts the assignment with a simple, "Yes, Duchess," then returns Miyi's wave with a smile and wave of his own as he walks over to the largest trestle table he can find and grabs one end. Dragging it across the ground, conveniently close to the Prince he raises his voice ever so slightly, just enough to carry to the ears of some nearby bystanders.

"Excuse me Prince Joran, don' s'pose ah could trouble ye fer a hand?"

"Busy," he said as he continued wiping the table and talking to Riss.

As he worked, he made his way closer to Jameela and her Sith escort. "You seem quite cheerful this morning, Princess Jameela." He offered, smiling.

“Any day I can do my part to help the people and be of service is a great day. I know that not everyone here would be here otherwise but if we can use our influence to do some good then so be it,” she said honestly.

Garth was unimpressed, but wasn't gonna give up that easily.

"Yeah, c'n see that. Prob'ly fer the best ye stick wi' the cleaning rag, these things aren't light." He needles the prince, trying to spur him into action. If there was one thing most military types Garth'd served with would rise to was a dumb macho challenge.

Joran sighed heavily and then walked over to Garth, “Fine, let’s get this over with.”

"Pardon my ignorance, but isn't this something more suitable for, well, employees? It's not that I mind putting in the effort but I figure we could simply pay somebody an honest wage for such things." Cynella smiled meekly. "Ah, but forgive me for my musings... I haven't even properly introduced myself!" After a bow, she got to the glorious recitation. "I am Cynella Rhiannon Esmetrice Andrim, though Cynella works all the same."

"Well yes it is, but this is tradition for the Flower Festival, the high serve the low as it were," she responded.

"We love our traditions here on Alderaan."

But that effort, while it doesn't undercut the good work he's doing, does mean that at one point he accidentally bumps into someone.

"Oh, sorry, ah," he's quick to say, smiling apologetically as he turns -- to see that he'd bumped into Lana Beniko. "Ah... Ambassador, um, Beniko, was it?" It's impossible to tell whether his smile falls away from confusion about addressing her or discomfort that he is addressing her.

She turned, locking her yellow eyes on him and said, “Yes, Brannis Ulgo, correct?”

"Ah thank ya, and ah'm sure y' sister'll thank ya as well. Just a few minutes and ye'll be back t' yer conversation." Garth adds as he lifts up his end of the table.

"Looks like she's gone t' some effort for all this. Ah'm sure a military man like you can 'ppreciate the greater chance 'f mission success when all the divisions work t'gether."

"Ah thank ya, and ah'm sure y' sister'll thank ya as well. Just a few minutes and ye'll be back t' yer conversation." Garth adds as he lifts up his end of the table.

"Looks like she's gone t' some effort for all this. Ah'm sure a military man like you can 'ppreciate the greater chance 'f mission success when all the divisions work t'gether."

"Yeah," he said while he helped lifting the table.

"Well yes it is, but this is tradition for the Flower Festival, the high serve the low as it were," she responded.

"We love our traditions here on Alderaan."

"It seems that way. I must always remain vigilant that I do not run afoul to any of them. Given yesterday's antics, I'm not sure if I entirely succeeded." Despite that, Cynella smiled and shrugged. "In a way, I'd say that this festival is a break from tradition, that being the nobles serving the commoners."

Riss smiles with the joke, watching him wipe the table a moment before Garth walks over. As he does, her attention diverts a moment. Glancing to Garth with Joran's reply she gives him a brief conciliatory smile, "It's a big table," she offers with a brief chuckle. A shrug to Garth for good measure. Though she was about to move around Joran when he rose to the challenge. In response, she smiled awkwardly, and then continued toward her original destination. Sitting at the table Joran was originally wiping she leans down onto it, propping her head up in the palm of her hand.

Meanwhile over by all the supply vehicles, Archie is doing what he can to keep spirits high by starting up an Alderaan Jody. This takes their mind off of how disgusting their bodies are becoming with all the sweat and grime and more on the good they are doing. Noticing the audience Garth smiles that country bumpkin smile at Joran.

"Sides, never hurts t' show off a little fer the ladies, right?" He asks, trying an angle that focused more on Joran's apparent self-interest. "She seems quite impressed."
