[Day 2 - LM] Soup for the Masses (Twin Event)

Niall shook his head. "No. It's not silly. We're part of the Republic, and the Republic has people in need. If we all work together, we can make not just Alderaan, but the rest of the Republic a better place to live." Smiling, he nodded at her. "And you're quite right, that is our role."

"Thanks, sometimes I feel like people think I am too... I don't now not ambitious; just don't see the world as it is, maybe?" she replied.

[Garth Wayne Ulgo]

"Oh wow, this is much busier than I thought it would be... and if I survive this I am mega tipping all wait staff from now on," she said taking a moment to help out Garth.

"You'll survive," Garth says softly as they both reach for the same cup at the same time, fingertips brushing. "It's only a couple 'f hours, but if y' feel overwhelmed, take a seat 'n a breather ah got yer back." Carefully spinning away as he headed over to another table he grinned widely.

Breela decided to start her day at the Soup Kitchen. She surveyed the room as if looking for someone, instead she found someone completely unexpected. She raised an eyebrow and sauntered over to him.

" ...taking stock of the situation and looking about helping where was necessary set up or passing out food.

"Well, well, if it isn't the good doctor from last night." She said coquettishly. While she was happy to see him he might notice her occasionally looking in the direction of both Zeno & Ziandra Thul. "I hope you didn't have too much fun without me."

“Sure, Lt. Teraan, just what the people need my smiling face to get their appetites going,” he said with a smile.

“People sure do look happy.”

As they made their way towards the crowd, she saw some of the women eyeing the Prince. "I'm not sure that's the kind of appetites we're supposed to be feeding this morning." She joked as she nodded her head towards one particular group of women that were busy fussing over their appearances.

"Of course they're happy. This gathering is a chance for the people to see how much House Panteer and the Crown cares for them." Jocasta began sorting people into a proper queue again. "It's difficult to remember that as a noble and particularly as a soldier, it's not just out duty to make policy and fight off enemies. We have to remember that what we do is for the peace and the prosperity of the people. I encourage all my troopers to commit a few hours a month to charitable works. It gets them away from the military echo chamber, let's them see what they're fighting for, and garners good will with the locals."

“I am not blind or deaf of the rumors I just don’t see merit in them. I don’t think every Sith is like her, but I do know she has been a good friend to me and offers insight I don’t see. Accepting one Sith does not mean I accept all of them,” she responded.

“Think people don’t see that. And with everyone looking at us,” she gestured to her brother who was working, “The Houses are wondering if we will succeed my mother… and well… it’s a lot to think about.”

"Ah, indeed, ambassador. Honored to be recognized," he says politely. "And you, ah, seem to be quite a significant presence these days, if I may say." Brannis manages to organize himself with the sort of professional smile that sees a lot of use in the House of Lords but that he generally doesn't inflict on "real people."

“My significance only matters due to my relation to Princess Jameela and the royal family,” she responded.

Aurilie stepped into the scene and raised her brows when she saw how busy it had gotten all of a sudden. She supposed she might have misjudged the popularity of the soup kitchen but that likely meant there was more than enough room to chip in where she could. To outsiders, helping out at the soup kitchen might have been considered menial for a noble, but some precedence and tradition attached when the gates were opened for the festival. It was her place as a representative of House Alde to ensure that tradition was going to be preserved.

She hung up her coat and rolled up her sleeves. Her gaze surveyed the scene and noticed a number of dishes laying about after people were done with them. If she was going to consider the dining room something of her domain by proxy, she needed to do some cleaning up to maintain it. Grabbing a cart, she rolled it to a few tables as she cleared them from the bowls and utensils.

"If you don't keep the people in mind, you become like Duke Bouris, he was a great war hero, he fought some amazing battles and did a lot of good for Alderaan, but he lost sight of what's important and now he's acting out of his own self interest instead of the good of the people, without thought to the consequences the people will face for his actions." She finished with conviction.

Niall nodded slowly. "I invited a Sith to visit Alderaan once. She's one of their Dark Councilors, now." He grimaced. "Goodness, I hope she wasn't involved in the recent invasion; that would be too much irony." He shook his head, clearly troubled by the thought.

After a moment, he cleared his throat. "There was another that I gave dating advice to. And one... was once a Republic agent, and a very good friend of mine." Again, he was silent for a few moments.

Finally, he sighed. "It is good to remember that one Sith and the Sith Empire aren't the same."

Seeing Joran head off and get occupied with someone else, Riss sighed. Putting both hands down on the original table she pushes herself back up to her feet and tries this whole being a good and decent person thing again. Or something like that.
