[Day 2 - LA] Skeet Skeet Shooting

"Who else would I trust? The Hutts? The Sith? The Republic is the last bulwark against, well, a great deal of bad in the galaxy. It's not perfect but it's much better than the alternatives," he responded.

"Nothing is perfect," she agreed, "but yes, the Republic at least strives for worthy ideals. As does Alderaan. The Empire and the Sith do not. Forgive me, I was just a bit concerned, seeing how close her highness princess Jameela is with a representative of the Sith, but," Kat looked at Gaul, and let her gaze drift to Joran and Unther too before focusing back on Gaul again, "I see that my concerns were misplaced, judging by your words."

"Oh Lana? She's the best kind of Sith, the kind that will kill you and then move on with their life and not revel in it like a child eating their first sweet cake. The problem with the Sith is indulgence, over indulgence. And that they are evil, but if I had to avoid every evil person in the galaxy I wouldn't be able to attend the Senate."

She nodded at Unther’s contribution.

“For sure. I get what you’re both getting at… and I definitely see what Joran’s sayin’. They hurt us bad twice… but it hasn’t broken us. We gotta be us. Our rules set the table… they then try and figure out what they wanna do to overturn the table. But we ain’t no spring chickens anymore. We’ll be ready. We know their games better and we’ll win in the end.”

"Yes we will," he said returning to take another round of shooting.

Delmi nodded firmly, looked at both of them one last time and then also smoothly flowed back into the mix of shooting.

"True, there are many evil people in the galaxy without allegiance to the Empire." There just tended to be a bigger concentration of it there.

"The situation is what it is, your highness. It is regrettable, but there is little gained by dwelling on the circumstances that have led us to this point, rather we must focus ahead to make it better than it is now. Peace, and stability. Is that why you have returned to Alderaan?" she asked, her curiousity making her bold enough to adresss the ortolan in the room.

Gaul chuckled and said, “I see it differently the past informs our future, knowing what influences pushed this current alliance to align is important even if they tend to be cyclical. Of course, well… we wouldn’t be here if… well, acknowledging past failures is a sign of maturity my dear brother would say I lack but I am terribly self-aware.”

“Frankly I am here because if mommy dearest thinks she needs a new heir, she makes the right choice, unprecedented as it might be.”


Unther added, “Don’t get him started.”

Empires bad, Republics good, the conversation got a few little passive nods from Riss along the way.

"Don't get him started," she reoeats, from off by Kat's side. Having finished a rather intentional long drink from her glass as the conversation continued along with her hovering nearby. "See, those are words that usually signal where it's most fun to poke," she teases with a little smirk.

"Forgive me, I did not articulate myself correctly. What I mean is, we should be informed by the past, but not dwell on it. Take knowledge from what has come before, but make decisions in the presence, without being tethered to the past. My master would say we shouldn't dwell too long on things we cannot change, such as the past, and instead focus on what we can change; such as the present." Kat dipped her head with the explanation, casting a smile at the exchange between the brothers. "We have all made mistakes in the past, myself included - best we can do is to learn from them and do better."

"It won't happen, it shouldn't happen, some traditions should not be broken," he added.


"See, how humble my brother is. I mean I love Jo, like... my own brother. But why burden him or Jamee with such great responsibility when stiff-upper lip Unther here is ready to do the Crown's work and grow fat on the throne," Gaul mused.

"Sometimes.. tradition ain't all it's cracked up to be," she glances between the two, looking to Kat. Finding some assurance for herself in looking to her friend. Looking back to Gaul, a little soft shrug, "What matters more than being ready though. Does he want to be? I mean, if this is just something about tradition blow it out of the water. If it's a matter of not actually wanting to do it?" she shrugs, "Different story."

"A question regarding succession is... a bit over my paygrade, so to speak." It was indeed a touchy subject, and Riss could tell it was for her judging by how she hesitated slightly with her words.

"I don't doubt any of the highnesses each have their own strength to bring as a ruler. If it was a clear-cut case that anyone was much better suited than the other, her majesty would probably had made her decision already." At least any of the three princes seemed better suited than the princess, but... well, neither of them were perfect either. But no one was.

"But what of yourself, prince Gaul? Prince Unther is certainly very well talented, skilled, and respected, but are you not the one who has been groomed for the position for a long time already? Do you feel unprepared for the role, or unwilling?"

“My whole life has been one internship for the crown, master Jedi,” he said wistfully.

“Serving Alderaan is all I know how to do, here or as a senator, or as a Senate liaison. But we are where we are now because I allowed… well as you say, we must look forward and do as Mother commands.”


Unther put a hand on his brother’s shoulder and said, “We both must do what we are called to do for the Crown. Go practice, you have actually gotten worse.”

Gaul was all in, Unther was dubious, and Joran just liked the idea of competition.

"How about a game?" she suggests, enough to address the whole group, looking between everyone as they start getting ready to shoot again. Glancing around to see if anyone peeks up interest at all by the suggestion. "Shot for shot? Zeno had been taking random shots at targets when the opportunity arose. But the suggestion of a game got his interest. "Sounds interesting."

"I'll start us off with something easy," she says, stepping a few out to a spot where she can look at everyone. Glass raised at her side she looks across the group, "Made a mistake," she says, and continues to look. Assuming no one would take a shot, or a drink, she just smiles brightly. "Glance around, mm? It's a fun game people, so let's have fun and not worry too much about judgement, mm?"

"Now, who's next?" she chuckles, and steps to the side.

"We'll say it does," he says with a chuckle. It wasn't the same for a droid, but the threat of spending a droids lifespan in the void is pretty scary for most people probably.
