[Day 2 - EA] Lillies at Play

Aly rolled her eyes. "Yes, thank you." She let out a sigh, then looked at one of the flowers. "Hm...how is it different from the old one? And don't tell me stronger, or I swear I'll throw a clump of dirt at you."

“That is a harder to answer, I don’t have a satisfactory response for you,” she admitted.

"Really? That's...not a big change then." Same sith, different darth, apparently.

"Does that mean you don't have a reply that satisfies you, or wouldn't satisfy me?"

[Kellen Rist]

She turned to hear Kellen make his findings known and made her way over, hoping to at least provide better company than a gardening droid. "That's a rather keen eye you have there. They boast a rather impressive collection here and I honestly have some trouble telling them all apart."

"Oh, hello there! Thank you, it's a hobby of mine you see. I have a thing for medicinal and edible plants. Never know when you might need to go foraging out on a dig." He stood up and offered a hand.

"I'm Kellen Rist. Pleased to meet you." Looking around at the diversity of plants he smiled. "2.7 million plants. Impressive. I can see why they have droids doing all the work."

"Does that mean you don't have a reply that satisfies you, or wouldn't satisfy me?"

Lana shrugged.

[Blai Frayus]

When Blai saw the large entourage following Jameela and the Imperial consort through the gardens, he was a bit discouraged. Of course it was expected that getting any attention during the festival would be hard, but somehow he had hoped to get some quiet here?

He shook his head and smiled. What the heck was he thinking?

Nevertheless - this was a lovely place! It had been a long time since he'd last visited it, but he still remembered visiting it as a teen and getting awe-struck by the enormous variety of species displayed. Visiting it now, he kept looking from one part of the garden to another, recognising species he'd seen elsewhere, and seeing some he reckoned he never saw in the wild. It was a reminder of how much he would never be able to see - and at the same time, he also kept thinking of trees and shrubs he'd seen during his travels that might make great additions to the gardens.

The conversation around sometimes found its way to him, but for now he mostly focused on the plants - while thinking about what sort of poem he could devise. Maybe something related to this diversity?...

"Oh, hello there! Thank you, it's a hobby of mine you see. I have a thing for medicinal and edible plants. Never know when you might need to go foraging out on a dig." He stood up and offered a hand.

"I'm Kellen Rist. Pleased to meet you." Looking around at the diversity of plants he smiled. "2.7 million plants. Impressive. I can see why they have droids doing all the work."

"It sounds more than a mere hobby, especially when you'll need to count on not ingesting the wrong fungi or potentially getting something that'll give you a fierce itch. You must have managed more than a hobby at this point if you're still standing among us."

She took the offered hand and gave him a firm shake. "Likewise...I'm Aurilie Alde, Prince of Mount Joral. I suppose I've always fancied myself a bit of an outdoorsperson with a few years of commitment. At 2.7 million plants, with many likely not even from Alderaan, it's enough to make me feel that I've only invested into a hobby so far."

[Kellen Rist]

Kellen grinned. "Well, when I'm setting off to a new world on a dig I always make sure I get a copy of the most up to date flora. Just in case, you can't be too careful. Don't want to lose a student to a nasty case of liver failure."

"Aurilie Alde? Oh, I'm working from the Alde Royal History Museum at the moment. I'm an Archaeologist by trade you see, but I do prefer to be in the great outdoors if at all possible."

[Aurilie Alde]

"Seeing as you're in charge of not only yourself but also students, who are bound to be as curious as they are bright, I can see something like that comes as a necessity by circumstance." She nodded a few times with that thought with a small smile. "I could imagine that many of them are looking for the opportunity to make the discovery of a lifetime and doing so without knowing that the discovery has been made some time ago. Unless they consider going through the same hardships are good material for their thesis?"

"Oh, the museum is in very good order. I've had the pleasure to revisit again after several years since my last visit. No doubt, I'm sure discovering new things and being on-site is far better especially being at the source than the comforts of a workshop on Alderaan. As for me, I'd say I'm more of a professional hunter myself."

[Omandri Rist]

"Yes and tomorrow I doubt it will be so lucky," she responded. "Are you a medical doctor by trade, then?"

Omandri nodded "Indeed I graduated from the Courscant Medical school with degrees in medicine and xenobiology. I was a combat medic in the Republic Military for about six years."

"I've been taking holo courses studying xenoanthropology and archeology as I've become fascinated by some of the cultures I've come in contact with." He chuckled a little self consciously "I suppose that's a more long winded answer when a simple yes would have sufficed."

“That is where my degree expertise is in,” she admitted.

“I am not sure I will ever get much use out of it though. Why did you put your skills to use for the military?”

[Omandri Rist]

"Oh yes! I had heard you were an intellectual of sorts. You've chosen a fascinating course of study, I hope the book I gifted you will be all the more enjoyable then. Not that I expect you've had time to read any of it yet as you seems nearly buried under unique and interesting gifts." He said laughing lightly

His expression turned a bit more serious as she asked her second question though the smile still touched his lips it had less mirth to it "You know? I ask myself that question sometimes myself. I believed it was a sense of patriotism. Upon graduating I wanted to give back to the Republic and helping heal wounded soldiers, save lives on the Frontline. It seemed....noble?" He shrugged "I don't regret the work I did or the people I saved but, it's a job that leaves a lot of scars you can't see."

[Jameela Panteer]

"I am not an intellectual... just curious," she said waving off the term.

"I can only imagine what scars the soldiers have, that is honorable work. Why did you leave it?"

[Omandri Rist]

"Thats all I means princess a curiosity and hunger to learn more. It is a stuffy term though." He relented

"I had....seen enough. I had collected enough scars of my own." And he did have a couple of scars on his face and hands that could be seen but something about his tone stated he wasn't just talking about them "I figured six years was a long enough time, I wanted to see the galaxy on my terms and add some good into it. I had seen impoverished and under developed worlds during my service. I decided to help those, travel around and do what I can. Help people that needed it most."

He smiled a little "but I feel I'm talking your ear off about me. I would like to know more about you Princess. You said you studied Xenoanthropology, are there certain cultures or time periods you were interested in?"

Jameela smiled and said, “You’re the second person to ask me that question about time periods. I am not sure I have a favorite time, maybe I am weird like that. I feel like I have only seen a smattering of the cultures and sentient species in the Republic; probably need to see more before I could narrow down a favorite.”

“I learned a great deal doing work on Dantooine and then visited some sites on Bankor. I was surprised there was even work on Coruscant, especially the lower regions which are quite dangerous.”

“My ears are still here, thankfully,” she joked.

Hearing the princess mention Bankor, Garth's ears pricked up and he moved a little closer, his movement was obvious, but he did not intrude on the conversation just yet.

Jameela smiled and said, “You’re the second person to ask me that question about time periods. I am not sure I have a favorite time, maybe I am weird like that. I feel like I have only seen a smattering of the cultures and sentient species in the Republic; probably need to see more before I could narrow down a favorite.”

“I learned a great deal doing work on Dantooine and then visited some sites on Bankor. I was surprised there was even work on Coruscant, especially the lower regions which are quite dangerous.”

“My ears are still here, thankfully,” she joked.

"Well I hate to be unoriginal but it is a natural question in such a broad field. Two experts in the study could talk and exchange information the other has never even heard of. But I appreciate the prudence of not selecting a focus until you've experienced more." He mentions with his easy going smile on

At that, Garth couldn't help but interject. "They are a very insular people, some tribes more than others, but they will welcome outsiders, if one is persistent."

He offers a small bow to Omandri and Jameela. "My apologies for interrupting, but I have spent the last five years with the Orosini people, since we helped liberate their homeland."

[Jameela Panteer]

"What was it like?" she asked.

[Garth Wayne Ulgo]

"It was...different. Primitive, c'mpared t' the larger verse, but their sense of c'mmunity is heartening." He explains as they walk.

"The strong look out fer the weak, but ev'ryone contributes. It's hard t' get used to, but spiritually rewardin' if y' can." Garth even makes an effort to lower the back of his shirt to show the tattoo they gave him.

[Count Serenno]

The Count was somewhere out there, listening to poetry while sitting on a bench amid flowers. If the gathering around the royals would draw anywhere near him he'd promptly rise to pay due respects and strike a conversation, but for now he was just immersing himself in culture.
