It's My Own, I'll Keep Owning It [Day 2, ME]

[Riss]

Taking the chit between two fingers she gives a brief smile, "Thanks," and pulls it closer. With an appraising eye she turns it around a bit to get a decent enough look at the thing thought it amounts to little more than simply a perfunctory 'something is in my hand' kind of check. With a soft laugh she shakes her head, "That'll save me the trouble of trying to check it out water," she seems to joke in a teasing tone. However, the glint in her eye when he first said what it was on pulling it out hinted at the idea that this wasn't entirely a tease at all.

Stuffing the chit down her shirt she nonchalantly gets it neatly tucked in there, shifting herself a bit to get the fit right. Settling on placement where it's most comfortable she rests her hands back down onto the sides of the chair which lets her lean forward a bit, "Any chance I can weasel out of you what exactly this thing says?" she asks, flashing a pretty smile.

He chuckled and got up to tend to the grill and said, "You can try."

[Riss]

Watching him return to the grill she smirks. Taking her moment to regard him, preparing herself for the little challenge. Standing up she moves over toward his side, bringing her hands up near his shoulders and teases the idea of touching them before she leans around to flash him a wink, "Just kidding," she says with a smirk, and then walks full around the grill until she can come back up to the side. Resting forearms along the safe edge of the grill she leans in just a little but finds the right spot where she doesn't get a face full of hot air while the grill is open.

"Really, I just think you're a good guy wanting to do a good guy thing, honest. Despite the kind of last couple days I have had which have been really rough," she says, her tone indicating some level of honesty. A small sigh, "I think.. after the rough last few days though? Everyone jostling me around like they've been? I'd really appreciate getting a little trust to show that you really do mean what you say. It'd mean a lot to me, after everything," she glances down briefly as she lets that thought sit a moment. "I just.. really wanna be able to know I'm doing the right thing here, that I'm not being mislead into some even bigger mistake playing on my.. kriff, desperately developing conscience? Helping myself mostly but.. I can do both? Right?" she says, a small chuckle as she looks to him. Rather than the put upon pretty smile she just gives him an earnest look and appeals to that good nature he claims.

Bryson nodded and said, “I can say it has materials for the Prince to review; maps flight plans, and data on specific people. Materials I have been able to slice from Thul networks and piece together, it’s not a complete picture but enough data to show that they are planning something horrendous.”

“But Panteer and Rist are not on the best of terms even with one of the Princes married to one of our own. The Queen will never trust a rival of Thul presenting damning evidence and of the children, Joran seems the most likely to take our concerns seriously. Prince Unther, possibly but he is too much like his mother. The others… I am not keen on trusting with this matter.”

“It could be nothing, honestly, and if so then no harm or foul, but if I sat by and did nothing when I could do something I would never forgive myself,” he finished as he grilled.

[Riss]

Riss smiles, there's a brightness to it. "You felt for me a little there, admit it," she said, scrunching her nose and shaking it with a little tease to the motion. Laughing to herself for a few notes she settles back into it again, there's a noticeable rise in her as she almost seems a touch more proud of herself than she was moments prior. "So.. you're keeping it locked only for Joran in case someone else not Joran gets it. So, not keeping me out- which I'd appreciate- or trusting me a little more- which I'd also appreciate- but.. just don't want to accidentally tip off the folk you're possibly onto? Any.. interesting names on the list? Folk I should be worried about?" she leans in a little more, remembering the grill by the heat on her face and leaning back again.

"Thul names, the less you know the safer for you. Thul would kill if they knew this info existed," he said to her.

"You're a sweet girl, just sorry you got mixed up in all of this."

[Riss]

"Better this than something else.." she says, her voice trails a little as her focus is taken up by a thought. A thought that was only hinted at by the slight reddening of her cheeks as she glances down and away a moment. Finding the distraction of looking out over the party to be just the right thing to distract her enough to calm herself back down a bit.

Looking back to him she leans up, pushing herself up so that her hands were the support point of her leaning onto the side of the grill rather than her forearms. "So uh.. I got this all ready to go then but, you think it'd be alright if I still hung around a bit? Seems.. nice here," she says, a brief smile.

[Dapper Dog]

"Have all the thrax dogs you want, Riss," he said warmly. "I hear the chef is pretty good, it's me, I am the chef."

[Riss]

"You're a dork," she laughs warmly as she shakes her head and leans off the grill. Eyes wandering down to his tattoo she brings a finger to her neck and brushes across a similar slot to call the reference, "I like the tattoo by the way. It's.. a thing," she gives with a brief smile.

“When I was younger I wanted a dangerous looking tattoo to look tall dark and mysterious. Now it’s just a relic of a more rebellious age, or I thought I was, but really I am just a computer analyst. Never did any field work for the Duchess or the House, besides grilling,” he said with a shrug.

He lifted the shirt to show it went down his back and side.

“I have no idea what it was supposed to be, I told them give me something cool. There may have been liquor involved.”

[Riss]

Riss' eyes lit up a bit at the chance to see it fully, with a barely contained excitement she worked her way around the grill to take a closer look. "Alcohol being involved has led to some of my most fun decisions," she says with a little tease to her tone. Hand coming up halfway, she was almost going to just start tracing over some of the lines with a couple fingers before she caught herself. Putting her hand back down on a safe spot of the grill at their side.

"Well.. it's a cool looking tattoo Mr. Tall, dark, and mysterious computer analyst," she teases with a soft chuckle as she looks to him. "I think it gives you a really good look nowadays too," she adds. Glancing back to the art she gets lost in it a moment before swallowing, "Thanks for sharing."

"No worries, mate," he said warmly.

"Fun decisions while drunk, yeah something like that," he said thinking back. "Mistakes are what make us who we are, though."

[Riss]

"They do. It's why I'm such a character," she says with humor in her tone, bringing a closed fist up to his shoulder. Nudging him gently with that fist she offers a warm smile.

[Dapper Dog]

"You are quite the character, quite a bit of courage in you, Riss," he said warmly.

[Riss]

Meeting his eyes again, "Yea," she nods, smiling warmly at the thought. A slight flush of the cheeks as her mind wanders and so do her eyes, glancing down to his lips for a moment, not conscious of the fact that she's biting her own. Frozen in that moment for a second or two.

He approached closer and then offered her a plate, “Thrax dog for the road or..?”

“You’re welcome to stay the night if you don’t mind bunking with a few kids. Got two girls, six and eight, and my son is thirteen. They are inside, probably killing each other. Have a spare room if you like.”

[Riss]

Blinking the flush deepens and spreads over the whole of her face, "For the road," she spills the words out of her mouth. A soft laugh as she regains a sense of herself, "I've slept in worse conditions before though," she chuckles, glancing away from him in the moment.

"I'll.. maybe I'll consider the offer if I need a safe place to sleep while I'm here, and in the area? If that's.. an open offer?" she asks, looking back with a raise of her brow.

"Sure, before [Early Night] even with vacation the kids still have a bed time. Just us, so we have plenty of room. Maybe call ahead of time in case it's game night," he said chuckling.

[Riss]

"Game night sounds fun," she smirks briefly, shaking her head a little, "But I'll be sure to. Thanks, you're.. sweet," she says with a warmth to her smile as she puts her hand under the plate he was offering, to take it from him.

He shrugged and said, “Here I’ll walk you out.”
