One Errand is Better than Xero? (D2 LE)

[Delmi Koor]

Delmi leaned back in her chair, "Hm."

The noise was a more nasal one, suggesting bewilderment.

"That a common thing out here? Not the getting slaughtered by a Sith thing..."

[Dapper Dog]

“Death pacts, no… well there was that one couple. One stabbed themselves the other poisoned themselves… tragic, some kids thought it was romantic. I have a hypothesis, maybe, but it might require doing something grisly. And by we, I mean you,” they said.

“We dig up your dear old mum.”

Xero added, “Try the grilled vegetables my droid does them very well.”

[Delmi Koor]

Delmi blinked a few times in surprise before nodding her head, "Uhh yeah... Wouldn't hurt right?"

She looked down at the Droid Chef vegetable flambé and poked it with her fork. "You all would be alright with that? It's your land and stuff."

[Dapper Dog]

Xero shrugged and said, “Best to ask for forgiveness than ask for permission. Plus it’s not like she buried in the official crypt.”

“Not like we are going to do a Weekend at Bzorp Bzorp’s with her or something.”

[Delmi Koor]

Delmi's eyes moved slightly to the side for a second as she thought and then she nodded, "Alright. If this is what helps me know more about my mother... let's do it."

She took a bite of the vegetables and chewed, "Mmm. This is good."

She looked over to Xero's plate to see if they had anything on it. "You... uhh... gonna eat? Probably hard with that thing, huh."

[Dapper Dog]

"Nope." They said.

[Delmi Koor]

"So... you're just gonna watch me eat and then we'll head over and dig up my mom's skeleton?" She asked as she took another bite.

[Dapper Dog]

“Yes?” they responded.

“It’s delightful actually. Helps me think. Not the eating but the relative silence.”

[Delmi Koor]

She nods, "Sounds like a good time."

She continues to eat her food... looking up as she chews...

Xero sat in silence unless addressed, sometimes shifting in their seat or moving a utensil.

About half-way through her meal Delmi couldn't repress a smile as she ate.

Who the fuck is this guy... gal... person... thing? They're fuckin' hilarious.

Eventually she would finish her meal. She took her napkin and cleaned the sides of her mouth.

"This was way good. Tell the chef they deserve another ounce of oil in their bath next time."

She then stood up and gently put the napkin down on top of her plate.

"Shall we head over?"

Xero rose and had a droid bring her a hydro-shovel. Once over at the grave after a fifteen minute walk they, Delmi, can get to work in the waning light of the day.

Xero watched the the waters of the pond.

Of course I'm the one doing the digging... Mechanical arm don't fail me now.

She began working on the grave, trying to get some of the rocks out of the way so she could start working on the mound beneath.

She looked for the locket she placed and put it in her pocket if it was still there...

"You said you knew my mom, right? Professionally at least... Got any memories of her?" She asked as she dug her shovel in.

[Dapper Dog]

“Good at what she did, professional, never really got close to anyone. Well liked though but outside of work, I didn’t see her much. Not uncommon. Some missions would take days or weeks, kind of need a break from the office as it were.”

“She was funny though, I do recall that.”

“We had each other’s back well until that solo mission, but well it’s the knife you don’t see coming that does it. We trained with House Rist, and that’s the kind of work we did. Mortality was good. Racked up a nice kill count, but then a time comes one must retire or die.”

Xero finished with, “She was a secretive woman overall, so who knows.”

[Delmi Koor]

"The knife you don't see comin'? She try to kill you?" She asked as she continued to dig.

[Dapper Dog]

“Oh nothing so dramatic, just the way things are in our line of work,” the masked person responded.

Her hydro-shovel hit something hard and a moments more and they have found a coffin made of modern materials.

“Do the honors.”

[Delmi Koor]

Delmi reached down and dusted off the box to try and find a handle on the side.

Hold on to your butts...

She opened up the coffin...

[Dapper Dog]

Inside was a corpse in decayed clothing, it's in a decent state due to the seal of the coffin.

"Huh, I expected a bomb," Xero said.

[Delmi Koor]

"You were?" She looked up.

I mean... I might have been too... but I can't say that aloud.

Delmi looked down at the corpse and started to look it over the best she could... Was this really her mother? Was there something of interest?
