What's a Gryffus Anyways? (Gliding Gryffus Day 2 Mid Evening)

[Gil Corren]

Doctor Rist had said something about coming by to chat this evening. So Gil found his way to the Organa spaceport to see just what the Doctor had in mind.

Finding the ship wasn't too hard the port authorities here held solid records, and soon enough Gol was pressing the comm device at the entry to announce his arrival.

not very long after he pressed the button he heard the voice of the doctor "Hey Gil! give me a second." there was a small sound of things being moved around and a small crash and a "Kriff" before the comm went quiet. A few seconds later the pneumatic hiss would be heard as the door lowered and a ramp came down to admit the body guard. At the top of the ramp Omandri waved down to him with a smile on his lips clad in brown work pants slightly stained with grease and a white tank top.

"Come on up man." Omandri said waving Gil up the ramp before turning to move deeper into the ship.

That seemed like the sounds of a man that lived like a bachelor. Well, at least as far as Gil could tell. Nodding a greeting to the other man he took him up on the offer and made his way up the ramp.

"This ship must be something ofva home to you." He mused as he walked. "Since you're choosing to stay here over the fancy guest suites at the palace."

Based on Gil's assumptions the ship he stepped onto likely surprised him as it was extremely clean and orderly at least here in the common areas. It was a lot of chrome and white with grey furniture, though there were accents of color as there were many cultural artifacts on display on the walls or on stands, masks, weapons, jewelry and the like from cultures across the galaxy.

Omandri chuckled "Well one, it is my home. The only permanent address of record is my home here which I haven't been to in nearly six years but two, I'm not staying here I just like to use this place for privacy. I've secured the ship against listening devices I don't trust the suitors quarters to be secure." When you grow up in House Rist you learn to be a little paranoid.

"Have a seat man, would you like a drink? I have some nice spirits and also just like water and juice and stuff." He offers with a friendly smile.

"Dealer's choice." Gil replied as he looked around the area, it was rather comfortable looking, aside from all the weird artifacts.

"I suppose I understand though, never know who's listening in guest rooms. It could even be several people."

Omandri chuckled "it's most likely several someones knowing this place." He said turning to a cabinet and grabbing two glasses and a bottle of amber liquid pouring two fingers in each "pretty good corellian stock." He said handing the glass to Gil and motioning to a padded booth style seat curved around a table.

He moved to it and sat at one end "I'm not foolish enough to think someone couldn't bug the ship if they wanted to, just less likely."

He took a sensible sip of the drink and let out a relaxed sigh "How has the festival been so far for you Gil? Giandra, or excuse me, Lady Rist hasn't bee. Working you too hard I hope."

"It's not too hard work watching flocks of women buzz around prince's and flocks of men around a princess." Gill replied as he took the offered seat, taking a moment to sniff at the alcohol before taking a sip. "So not particularly." He sighed perhaps a bit melodramatically. "I haven't even had to beat anyone senseless with my stun baton."

"so if things stay like this it will be an easy enough assignment, which is nothing to complain about." There was a breif pause. "What about you? Enjoying the festivities?"

Omandri smiled it was an open and friendly smile that reached his eyes "Yes I'm certain its nothing near as exciting as you normally deal with." he took a sip of his glass and relaxed back a little bit "I'm sure we can find someone to use the baton on if its not getting enough use."

"As far as the festivities they're alright, busy. Lots of appointments and parties and...poetry writing? for some reason?" he chuckled a little "ugh this is where I grew up but everything feels so crazy now, I'm not used to this place anymore." he sat forward and waved a hand dismissively "but i'm sure it'll work out for the best." he paused a little "or the country will tear itself apart in civil war, we'll see."

"There is usually someone out there if you go looking." Gil replied with a slight smirk, a bit of amusement in his tone. "Going looking for fights isn't likely to help you get married though, well if that's what you're supposedly here for at least."

Gil nodded at that. "Honestly I'm leanign a bit towards the last part there. Things aren't exactly smooth sailing at least in my opinion, and I don't think all involved are fully thinking over how their actions are veiwed by the masses." He shook hsi head. "Of course that's just how I see it and i'm not really a great expert in these things."

Omandri shrugged "I'm here because Giandra 'asked' me to be. Marriage for me is a long way off, not quite ready to settle down yet. Not saying if the right woman came along I'd be opposed to it but that hasn't quiet happened yet." He replied casually

"Well that all sort of ties in to why I asked to meet you. I'm not sure how much if anything Giandra has told you but she is look to abandoning our alliance with house Ulgo. It seems the duke's boarish nature and posturing don't sit well with her. This in general I have no issue with, there are other families that we can link with to strengthen ourselves." He took a drink and sighed a little bit "however she tells me she is thinking of aligning our house with House Thul." He revealed allowing a small pause for processing "I of course protested and she told me I have to find proof that Thul are really just Imperial lackeys if I want to stop her from making this mistake."

Mentally Gil assigned Omandri to the same 'will need to be chased into marriage list that Kellen was on. Not that he could really talk though. He just dipped his head in assent to the man's words though.

"I've heard some rumors but nothing really solid. Honestly though I don't think all that well of House Thul myself. They seem to have skillfully put themselves into a position of power though, especially since they have so recently been brought back into the fold." He shook his head. "That's not really the key to this matter though."

"Do you have any ideas on how to get this proof?"

Omandri flopped his head back a little "kriff I don't know. I'm a doctor, not a spy Gil. I guess all the normal stuff comes to mind befriend a Thul, seduce a Thul. Sneak into their estate look for evidence. Though that last one especially sounds like suicide, I doubt the Blackguard treat trespassers gently." He said looking up and sipping the Whiskey.

"Im also curious because Giandra said that Thul has a plan to deal with all this. That makes me nervous cause my sister and I agree on one thing. House Thul will do anything to get what it wants."

"From what I understand most spy aren't even the type to sneak into buildings, but the smart types that hack their way in or listen in on comms, so could be you're closer to a spy then me." He raised his glass to his lips. "At the very least you're likely better at seducing a Thul then I am."

"i'm more a capture and interrogate sort of guy, and pretty sure that sort of thing isn't gonna fly." He paused and thought for a moment. "You are right abotu sneaking in too, that sounds like last resort, especially since rumor is those blackgaurd are forcey sorts. Though that makes you wonder where a house comes across so many focey types, they aren't exactly common."

The last comment brought a frown to his face. "A plan to deal with the succession? Or to make it look like they aren't involved with the empire?"

Omandri sighed a little "yeah maybe, I don't have any experience with hacking. I'm not bad with computers just never got interested in it." At the next part he chuckled a little "and we'll I would like to think I'm ok with the ladies but I don't know if I'm quite good enough in bed to make a woman spill her house's secrets."

"Interrogation would have a lot of backlash." He said more seriously "but....if it's what it takes." He frowned, it was toeing a line he wasn't comfortable with "let's just hope it doesn't come to that."

He took a longer sip "as for the plan I didn't get any details. Giandra just said Duchess Thul had a plan. Didn't give any specifics, my sister doesn't keep me, or anyone else for that matter, looped into her plots."

A straight face. "Well Doctor, perhaps there are drugs to help with that?" He probaly wasn't being serious... Probably.

There was a nod at the interrogation part, he figured Omandri would think that way, and really he agreed it was something of a last resort kind of thing, much like sneaking into the compound. "It's starting to seem like makign friends is the best way to go, if we can manage that."

"As fr the plan, at the moment it might mean something with the Princess, she seems pretty close to house Thul and that Sith girl. Duchess Thul was at that Soup kitchen this morning after all, as well as her husband." The Prince had been there too, but one could tell it wasn't exactly his idea. "And it's likely the Thul's that introduce the Princess to that Sith girl."

Omandri just nodded "Well there likely are drugs that could make someone more....forthcoming." He said taking the, hopefully, joke and turning it into an actual idea. "If I could get one of them alone and slip it to them. Could get some information that way...." He said deep in thought "that actually might be a decent idea."

"But I'm not sure about the princess angle. I mean I don't think she would be willingly going along with a plan against the Republic." He rubbed his chin "unless they manipulated her into thinking it's what's best for Alderaan."

"Could be." Gil replied with a nod. "Just have to find the right target for it." Which might be easier said then done. "any ideas on that front? Outside the baroness herself that is." That seemed like a lst choice sort of thing.

"I don't know the Princess that well but she seems just naive enough where that would be possible. Play up the angle about the Jedi attackign the empire first in the recent war, talk about how peaceful empire planets are. Having a Sith by her side possibly using the force to whisper ideas into her head. You know the sorts of things you do if you wanted to covertly take over a planet."

He nodded along there were a few people who could possibly know what they needed. The baroness would obviously be the best but also most dangerous target. A quandary for sure. "Yes it will take some thinking and observations to figure out. I also sent a note to a private investigator of some renown who has no love lost with the Thul. Might be able to help get some useful information."

"Oh?" He raised an eyebrow at that.

"Anyone I might of heard of?" Bringing in others wouldn't hurt if they were trustable, and more then that he was rather curious.

Omandri shrugged "One Mark Fallenstar is his name, solved some mystery for the jedi about missing padawans a little bit ago. Work for Thul at one point but had a falling out. Seems to be good at figuring stuff out. I don't plan on giving him all the details just hiring him to see if he can uncover evidence about Thul."
