[Day 2 - LA] Skeet Skeet Shooting

"I'm glad to hear you were spared from the worst," she said with a light dip of her head to punctuate the sincerity of her words. "Perhaps in the coming days I might take a trip out there to see the sights once more. It's been too long..."

Her blue eyes followed Aurilie's as they trailed the path Riss had taken, and at first Kat responded with a nod. "Yes. A friend. I've saved her skin a few times, and she's done the same for me. Rough around the edges, but she means well. Heart's in the right place... most of the time."

Is this Joran's idea of courtly romance? Huttball and skeet shooting and booze? Maybe he should have listened to his mother more.

Still, one must attend to matters with a smile. She was in no hurry to take a turn shooting, but stepped up to take her shot. A miss, but at least her form looked competent.

At the miss, she put away the weapon, raised her wine, and took a drink.

Well things had been interesting for a little while before the game came to an abrupt end. At least he had managed to catch a few names. Though most would say it was rude listening in was a sevants prerogative.

Aurilie did manage a small smile at the talk of Mount Joral. "I think we'll be happy to have some visitors, especially when the snow's weakening grasp will have faded by the end of the festival here and we'll find ourselves at least on the same foot as most of the other kingdoms on Alderaan. Hopefully, you'll have plenty of appetite for valleyberry wine."

Visitors and tourists were probably the only way they could thin out their large stocks of wine made with the local tree berries.

"A bit of a surprise that we haven't crossed paths yet, Katarzyna. Then again, Riss and I have only reunited after almost a decade apart. I fail to see the roughness...but I do think she's been through a lot that it does take a toll." She let out a small sigh. "Hardly the end of things, of course. I'm sure she'll bounce right back up at the next outing."

"It sounds like it will be lovely time." She couldn't remember having valleyberry wine before when she had visited, but that was probably because she had been a padawan the last time she did see Mount Joral, and her master hadn't exactly approved of padawans getting drunk.

"It is a big planet, yet a surprisingly small galaxy," Kat remarked with some good humor, considering she was meeting lots of new people from her homeworld, yet kept tripping over the same other people in the wider galaxy. "Riss does have a talent for bouncing. Bouncing back, that is. I've known her for quite some time too, but it's more the past years we've spent some time together. A Jedi occassionally need to find creative ways to land on an occupied world, and clever folks like Riss know how to make that happen."

There were still some Republic personnel around so Veeone remained. To protect them. From what he did not know, but perhaps a vicious wasp might emerge from the foliage or something.

"Ah, you've met her through her business with the Rimma Roundabout, was it?" She paused for a moment as if to think twice about the name, not on whether she got it right but think more on why it was named as such. "That's an interesting business, that's for sure. I haven't had the chance to touch on her time there. From what I've been told, there was a partner at one point in time?"

She gave Kat a curious glance on the matter, wondering if she was said partner but also about her. "Does a Jedi often need interesting ways to make an entrance? I would have thought that most would travel with an entourage or a delegation."

"One could say that, yes," Kat confirmed with a gentle nod. Business made it sound so... official and on paper. Which was very much not how Riss did things.

The Jedi Knight shrugged somewhat. "Some do, occassionally yes. I have not really been part of delegations or entourages in my time as a Jedi, apart from travelling with my master. Occupied worlds usually don't want Jedi to come in to help the people there, so you need to be creative sometimes. Worlds like that are often those who need help and hope the most."

Aurilie nodded at that. "I must confess that most of my interaction with the Jedi have indeed been when they've been attached to formal delegations in an official capacity."

She gave a small gesture to the space around them, really meaning Alderaan and its political workings.

"It almost sounds rogue-like but I know that's not the case. I haven't heard much about these operations that you speak of but I do know that they happen, especially in parts of the galaxy in need and in times of war. Not something that often finds its way to day-to-day conversation, I'm sure. Or perhaps not becoming of a Jedi to brag about such glories?"

She gave a lightly amused half-smile. "The Jedi rarely see a need to broadcast our deeds and our missions. We do not do what we do for the glory or the fame, helping others is a reward in itself."

"I have a few times been part of delegations here to Alderaan during my training, but as someone who was not yet a full-fledged Jedi, I only observed."

"I suppose it is in your nature and the glory is in the results, rather than the stories themselves and despite Jedi lending themselves very well to ideas of literary fancy it seems. Now that you're a Jedi, have you found yourself more comfortable when on Alderaan or do you prefer being on the field? Personally, these events are nice and often it is pleasant to be among people..." She trailed off slightly with a small smile. "Just so long the people remain pleasant, of course."

"Honestly, I like being here on Alderaan, even if the politics, pomp, and circumstance is a bit over my head a lot of the time," she chuckled softly. "After the treaty, I was given permission by the Order to take some time to myself to reflect on the current state of things, and Alderaan was easily the choice for me to go to for that... though the Festival has been a bit of a diversion from that, but a welcome one." She paused to look at their surroundings, taking in the people, the beauty, the smiles and good mood on most of the people.

"It's important to see these reminders of what we are protecting."

Aurilie chortled on that note before it subsided with a small smile. "If that is truly the case, I suppose I find myself envying your ability to overlook the small details that are enough to bother some Alderaanians. Things are pleasant enough on a surface level, I'll agree with you there and the flowers do a wonderful job of hiding the whispers that go on the other side. You've picked a fine to see Alderaan when it's filled with such interesting people. At the end of the day, there is still a lot of good in this world, naturally. It is my sincere hope that it stays that way if Jedi like such as yourself and cooler heads prevail."

She nodded after a pause. "I've likely kept you long enough, Katarzyna. It's very likely that we'll have another chance to talk, especially with our mutual friend."

"Alderaan is not perfect, but its virtues are worth standing up for, and to work on improving its flaws," she said honestly, taking a look around at their surroundings. Politics were certainly a flaw, one that could be improved. "But thank you, my lady. Your words honor me."

Holding her hand to her mid-riff, Kat gave Aurilie a formal bow in the style of a noble.

"I look forward to when we'll have the time to meet again. You have been most pleasant company."

Aurilie shouldn't be surprised by the customary gesture coming from a Jedi who had spent time on Alderaan. It was good to see that was either a good student or paying attention. She would gladly return the gesture in kind. "And you as well. Have a good evening, Miss Katarzyna."

With farewell exchanged, she went back to her previous shooting spot to pack away her rifle and eventually make her leave.
