[Day 1 - EE] Suitor's Mixer RP Thread

“Joran smiled at the greeting and said, “What’s a member of Havoc Squad doing here of all places… more importantly how did House Thul rope you into their web?”

After presenting himself to the Queen, he immediately made his way directly to the whatever would pass to a bar and nodded his head. "Whiskey. Iced. Nothing else." He said it coldly to the barkeep, looking at the bartender with a stare as he poured the alcoholic drink. He was not a mess of nerves, naturally, why would he be? Handled it as well as expected. Never any doubt. This was a mixer, of course, and mixers required you that you have a mixed drink. Though he wasn't mixing anything in this drink, it would have to do. The title said Mixer, and that implied mixed drinks.

Drinking it straight was his way of doing it. Nothing needed to change the taste of what was already a solid drink by itself. When the drink was presented to him, he nodded his head in gratitude and turned away from the barkeep and looked at everyone around.

How long do I have to be here before I can leave?

He had no children of his own, but Garth had become almost an adoptive uncle to many of the Aznuri children back on Bankor and so smiled at the thought of Zeno's little ones.

"So d' the girls take after you or is there more of their mother in 'em?" He asks before latching onto Zeno's talk about the Thul suitors.

"Ya think either of yer family candidates likely t' win a heart or a hand this week?" As Garth speaks, his eyes are drawn towards Jameela's direction.

"They take after both pretty well. It's impossible to miss the red skin, but their features are definitely more like Ziandra's," he says with a nod, pulling out a datapad and bringing up a picture for him to see if he wants. Yeah, he's one of those proud papas that shows off pictures of his kids.

"I'd like to think that they will, but my wife is the expert on that. I had never even heard of her or house Thul before I had willingly agreed to marry her, and I haven't regretted a single day. So if someone knows how to make matches it's her not me. My romantic history was far more turbulent when left to my own devices," Zeno admits.

She couldn't help herself; Layne *had* to approach her old classmate. They had never had the best of relationships, if one could even call it a relationship; but he had been there at the fight with her old master, and he was here, in the Republic now. She'd been briefed on this fact, of course. She didn't really believe that he had turned a new leaf the way she and Baesal had done; but at least there was a *chance* of it. However slim it might've been. Of all the people at the academy, Zeno was the *last* person she'd expect to redeem himself.

She didn't know if he still thought her dead. Didn't know if he had even cared to take notice of the occasional mention of a black lightsaber-wielding Jedi on the battlefields of the war; an indication that she had managed to somehow survive what had clearly been a fatal wound that time.

But either way, here she was, walking up to him with what might be thought of as uncharacteristic calm on her face for someone formerly known as the Little Wrath.

"Zeno," she said, "what a surprise to find you here, of all people."

She smiled and chuckled once, "Both good questions. Kinda the same answer though. I figured out that my mom was originally from Alderaan a few years back. War kept me busy bouncing around... but now that things have calmed down a bit, I wanted to come out. She's buried out on Thul lands... and I'm trying to figure out what I can about her."

She smiled again, "Just so happened that you all are having this nice party for the next week and a half. They asked me if I wanted to stay and maybe help out with some stuff around the planet. So now I'm getting together a team to help out House Syrush with uhh... their problems. That's the type of stuff I'm good at. More so than all this..."

She looked around the room, "But this sure beats the snot out of Quesh or Hoth... So I'm having a good time."

[Zeno Thul]

Garth grabs another drink from a passing waiter and listens carefully to Zeno. "Well then, how d'you think we should be lookin'? We're all temporary rivals in this here 'rena, but I 'magine how this all shakes out'll color our perspectives even more."

"Misery acquaints a man with strange bedfellows. Though in this case it appears I'm a strange bedfellow," he says with a shrug. "It happens when you force people into a bad situation. If Thul wanted to be beholden to Imperial powers they would have moved to Imperial space after exile no? Instead Thul found a way to return, which suggests the lengths they'll go to for love of our home."

The Zeno she knew was was certainly not gone, not redeemed, as she could likely sense his dark power which had grown much stronger since they last met. But even with that he had changed. Intensity had become focus, aggression kept in check, his eyes were less predatory and more discerning.

He smiled... pleasantly. "It's been some time Layne," he said, extending a hand for her. "You're looking much better since I last saw you. Believe it or not, I'm glad you made it out alive."

With the chuckle his chuckle she lightly shoves his shoulder a little, enough that he'd feel it but not enough she'd spill anyone's drink. Laughing briefly alongside, "You know what I meant," she said, shaking her head with a touch of warmth to her smile.

"Anyway, believe it if you want but I didn't actually come here with any thoughts toward stealing away a shiny prince," she sticks out her tongue to punctuate the thought. "Meant to just make this something like a little vacation. Rich folk giving the common folk a nice ride for a bit, who could say no to that?" she laughs briefly with a brightness to her smile. Though her gaze shifts downward a moment and she shakes her head, "But Kriff-me he's shiny," she adds with a touch of roughness to her voice, laughing renewed as she shakes her head.

He simply chuckled at the shove a bit of returned warmth in the sound and the smile he gave her.

He grinned mischievously at her as she spoke "hmmmm Riss Panteer Pirate captain," He clears his throat "excuse me Republic Privateer Captain who steals the heart of the dashing prince and turns Alderaan upside down." He smiled "It sounds like a cheesy romance novel, but if anyone can make it a reality it's you Riss." His tone is light and playful but there's a core of Sincerity to it.

“You have been everywhere I bet, what was your toughest assignment?” he asked.

"Toughest?" She looked up at the ceiling for a moment while thinking.

"Plenty of dangerous ones... But gotta put Hoth up there on the toughest." She replied.

"It's just so damn cold and barren... Only things out there either want to eat you or cut through you with a lightsaber. Other places there are moments with the squad where you can joke or enjoy some fun somewhere... Hoth there was just nothing. Nothing to do but complain to your buds about just how damn cold it is."

"I hear that..." She commented on the side, unclear if it was the more than all this or Hoth parts. "Though let me know if you need anything for the work you're doing. Best with ships, but I can make and fix all sorts of stuff."

"Maybe, yeah... They got something of a bug problem... We're trying to figure out a good way to thin 'em out and keep 'em away as best we can. Can use some good heads on it."

“Killiks are such a menace, we should just eradicate them to the last,” Joran said bitterly.

She nodded, "Don't think we'll get all of them... but hopefully push 'em back a bit. Make 'em hurt a bit more. Then try and figure out how to protect the nice planet you all got here. It's one of the nicer places I've been so far. Might even stick around for a bit if things work out. Recently learned that my mom was from out here."

She nodded, "Don't think we'll get all of them... but hopefully push 'em back a bit. Make 'em hurt a bit more. Then try and figure out how to protect the nice planet you all got here. Baesal arrived a bit later as she mostly had been focused on her project but she knew the importance of events such as these ones. She did not know how this would go but with the pitiful performances of the suitors...who knew

She wore an elegant dress of red hue herself, armbraces matching her headpiece

Assuming the queen let her go free, Azura made her way to the food to try what wasteful but delicious food was on display. Doing her best not to knock more people over in the process, it likely might upset someone if she did that again.

Alysele noticed the odd looking woman, and approached her, two drinks in hand.

"So....shipping is your business?" She asked, offering one of the drinks.

"Oh? Your mother never told you of your heritage?" he asked.

She shook her head, "Nah... I mean, no. She was kinda distant... I guess you'd say. And she left when I was real young. Didn't see her after she left."

She added, "She's buried out on the Thul estates though... They've been real nice letting me poke around and trying to figure out what happened."

Count Serenno was finally ready for socialising, having now properly affixed his cape.

After presenting her gift to the Queen, Jocasta became a wallflower, standing on the edge of the crowd and observing their interactions. As expected, Prince Joran was a social butterfly, flitting from group to group, making his presence known. He seemed charming enough. She noticed Princess Jameela standing on her own after speaking with the young Jedi and found her more approachable.

Jocasta walked across the hall and offered her hand to Jameela, "Princess, if I may have the pleasure of introducing myself, I am Lieutenant Jocasta Teraan. I saw you on your own and wanted to take a moment to compliment you on your dress. I love how the colors change with the light."

"My sister, Cedonia, tried to convince me to prepare something more ladylike for the occasion, but you only meet the Queen for the first time once and I felt I would be more comfortable in something more familiar." Jocasta explains as she gestures to her uniform. "Cedonia is much more the fashionista than me and she is a big fan of yours. Would you mind terribly taking a holo with me to send her? She's not quite old enough for these soirees."

"I am fine with that," she offered and waited for the holo-picture.
