[Day 1 - EE] Suitor's Mixer RP Thread

Gil made his way towards a out of the way wall, a glass of somethign non alcoholic in hand, not exactly an easy thign to find at a place like this. Still at least in his head he was obstensibly on duty and he wasn't much one for drinks anyways.

Garth's eyes widened slightly at the casual display of Lana's talents, no matter how many times he saw that trick, he was still impressed.

"In th' interest of full disclosure, as someone who flies fer th' other side, ah'm quite glad t' hear that from yer own lips. There's been much fightin' of late an' I hope this treaty of peace can last."

Conflict was bred into the universe, change was inevitable, entropy was a constant. Complexity would be chipped away in time. She lowered her eyes in thought and then locked them back onto Garth and said, “Conflict is inevitable, but not today.”

Finding a small place he finds the Queen looking at a holo-painting. She turned and looked at Gil, perhaps he was lost or needed something from her. She was the Queen so she would not address him unless there was a need to.

"A much smarter man th'n me said that war is just another tool of diplomacy, but peace is just the lull between wars...or somethin' like that." Garth tried to quote, but mangled it horribly.

"Ye've given me honesty Miss Beniko, ah can't ask for more'n that. I should've known that a fine and noble person like th' Princess would only surround herself with similar caliber of companions. Ah feel secure in the future of Alderaan, should she rise to follow her mother the Queen in leading us into th' years t' come."

"Power is isolating, she is learning that more and more with time," she said taking another small sip.

Breela felt horribly awkward at this reception. She immediately found the bar and ordered a whiskey to calm her nerves with a tap beer to chase. She downed the shot then twirled her finger gesturing for another. Sighing audibly. "I... hate... these types of parties."

After presenting himself to the Queen, he immediately made his way directly to the whatever would pass to a bar and nodded his head. "Whiskey. Iced. Nothing else." He said it coldly to the barkeep, looking at the bartender with a stare as he poured the alcoholic drink. He was not a mess of nerves, naturally, why would he be? Handled it as well as expected. Never any doubt. This was a mixer, of course, and mixers required you that you have a mixed drink. Though he wasn't mixing anything in this drink, it would have to do. The title said Mixer, and that implied mixed drinks.

Drinking it straight was his way of doing it. Nothing needed to change the taste of what was already a solid drink by itself. When the drink was presented to him, he nodded his head in gratitude and turned away from the barkeep and looked at everyone around.

How long do I have to be here before I can leave?

She notices the handsome Chiss seated a ways down the bar and nods in his direction. "I take it these events aren't really your scene either huh?"

There was a very, very long pause as he looked at the...cat person before him. The last time he had heard from a humanoid cat woman, she ended up being rather angry with his crew after some, well, incidents. Cathar were not his favorite types, though that was only from experience of angering one. He gave one look at the cat woman and nodded. "I try not to make too many appearances in such populated areas. Having to deal with this many humans tends to cause my head to hurt a little." He nodded and sipped his whiskey a little bit and stared at her. His face seemed rather annoyed that she approached her, but far be it for him tell her to leave just yet. She may be of some importance to know, after all.

Though she really didn't look it.

"You seem to enjoy the drink." He stares at the two in her hands for a long moment before looking back at her. "Suppose if it's already paid for, one should do so."

For her part, the last time she had dealt with a Chiss directly was six years ago. Might has well have been a lifetime.

"You seem to enjoy the drink." He stares at the two in her hands for a long moment before looking back at her. "Suppose if it's already paid for, one should do so."

By this point she was wearing a fake smile. "My thoughts exactly."

She immediately downed the other shot. But instead of looking up she let her head hang as she became lost in thought. She then looked at the Chiss in her periferals. Thought some more. And finally turned with malicious intent. "One more, tender." She moved a few seats closer.

"Breela by the way." She said still wearing the fake smile. "I don't suppose a superior stud like you is here to impress the queen. So how did the princess like your gift?"

[Nudimsu]

"Nudimsu." He says and looked over at her, thrilled to have the conversation continue. "I hope she finds some use for it. Simple rose, figured it was a part of the theme of the festival. It seemed to make the most sense. Not really in the running for her affection, so I figured it was simplistic enough. Whether she likes it or not won't stop me from sleeping at night."

He turned and smiled and sipped his whiskey again. "What about you, after the Prince..." He looked at the Cathar again and nodded. Kind of a older cat. Maybe some greys already? Could be the fur, though. Hard to tell. Not really sure what she was here for. "...Or just enjoying the festival?"

"How romantic!" She said, delighting in each response she forced from him. "He's a charming man certainly. But I'm just here to enjoy the drinks, the festival... and the views."

As she spoke she slowly moved a few stools closer.

"So if you're not here for the princess, who are you here for?"

He'd been watching the Princess speaking with the Imperial and honesty he wasn't entirely sure he was happy about their interactions. Still it wasn't his place to comment, and in a room full of force users one simply avoided thinking too deeply on such matters.

His mind preoccupied he was certainly surprised to walk in upon the Queen, and he bent into a formal bow. "I hope I'm not disturbing you your majesty." He asked as much as said, giving her leave to dismiss him and return to her privacy.

[Layne Hoshin]

"Uhuh," Layne was clearly not having any of this 'I'm not a Sith anymore' talk. Which *was* kind of funny coming from her perhaps... but then, their situations *were* rather different.

"Why?" She asked when he mentioned Daz, "...remind you of someone? I guess he does take that boldness from our ancestors. That kid already shaped the fate of the galaxy before he ever became a padawan."

"Acshally, Knight Carrack's been kind enough t' give me a li'l rundown on the subject. State of the 'verse bein' what it is, seemed a bit important. But ah understand, time and place 'n all that."

"A little bit. He seems the type to do something without thinking it all the way through," he says with a chuckle. "For all our differences, we both had that in common. Rushing into things with no thought for consequences. It's really a wonder we're both alive to have this conversation."

Looking to Garth, "It's good to get to know the difference between light and dark, to be able to see the difference. But in particular, when Layne and I debate something we'll probably throw barbs at each other and half of what we say will have nothing to do with the debate. That's why she'd probably be the only one that could find a reason for me to even consider it," he says with a smirk in her direction.

Obviously she was not the type to play quite as nice with words as he was. Hers were a little more direct.

"I doubt you'd *ever* truly consider it. Selflessness never struck me as something you're capable of. Personally, I learned it after cleaning up the mess you left behind. Do you even remember what you did to Gerald, Zeno? How *is* Zash by the way? Last time I saw her I was cutting off the arm of the apprentice she replaced you with."

She frowned for a moment, then snapped her finger as if she just remembered something else. "No wait, I met her after that, on Yavin, along with a few other noteables. Making sure your emperor was going to stay dead instead of simply come back after getting betrayed by some other old classmates of ours. Because Sith never really think these things through, right? Man, imagine missing out on being part of all that important sort of stuff. No offense to our hosts, but Alderaan is a bit of a boring place to retire, don't you think?"

Nudimisu? She thought, Sounds like a soup.

"How romantic!" She said, delighting in each response she forced from him. "He's a charming man certainly. But I'm just here to enjoy the drinks, the festival... and the views."

As she spoke she slowly moved a few stools closer.

"So if you're not here for the princess, who are you here for?"

"I suppose it is." He gave a large shrug at the comment of romance. The His race was never big on such things. Marriage was supposed to be nothing more than a unification and alliance between houses to produce the best offspring. If the mates were lucky, they would tolerate each other alone. All this 10-day celebration to determine such a thing was a foreign concept. Seem practical and wasteful to spend time and money on celebrating an emotion and a ceremony.

The Cathar was starting to get a little too close for him, but he kept his cool for now.

"Not that it's any of your business, but I'm here to help someone prevent a war from starting. Apparently all this pacifism this planet and their people professes to exhibit has its limits. I saw such a display earlier in the day with the princess while I was inspecting my ship. Rather large anti-Empire sentiments, it seems."

He was being a little bit more talkative than he'd like to be. Maybe it was just the nerves and the whiskey aiding it.

"Nice to meet you. Alysele Organa." She eyed the woman up and down. "Here for the festival Ms. Mora?" She asked casually, her tone pleasant. "Where abouts did you travel?"

"Azura please, I aint one for fancy terms" Azura shrugged "this time? The spaceport with my company offices are. I've travelled a lot, not even sure which planets I aint been to by now. This one is a great improvement on Bankor though, minus the lil protestings earlier. Not that they were close to a warzone, I'll take a thrown shoe over a thrown grenade or an axe. So I guess yes here for th' festival but as a local now can't avoid it right? Gonna guess you're here for much the same?"

Lana nodded to Garth before turning her yellow eyes elsewhere.

"Oh, you were at the protests earlier? What did you hear exactly? I didn't catch most of it unfortunately." She smiled, then took a sip.

"Something like that. Trying to figure out the next step in my life, so to say, and might as well spend it at home. The Festival just adds some extra spice to it. Are you running, so to say? To marry?"

Her fun ended swiftly. The honesty was sobering. "Yeah... I was there." She looks off towards the Queen in thought. "Apparently dissent, even light dissent, is quickly and brutally crushed here." She took a swig of ale and turned toward the bar. "Let me ask you something Nudimisu. You're suffering under oppression every day. Then a chance comes for you to say enough is enough. And if you survive throwing off the yoke of oppression, the future is unsure, and the chances that your world will come under assault by a much more ruthless oppressor are high. Would you do it? Or would you suffer, day in and day out, as the whip falls, as the anger swells within you?"
